The Committee on Culture and Spirituality discussed the Issue "On Inadequate Implementation of Legislation on Monument Protection, and its Use by certain Institutions and Organizations only with the Purpose of granting Permits and Agreements for a Fee"

The Committee members underscored that implementation of the Law "On Protection of Cultural Heritage" is unsatisfactory. "For the last couple of years, passive role of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine resulted in demolition of numerous monuments of cultural heritage", - emphasized the People´s Deputies.

Therefore, the Committee recommends that the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine establishes a single body in charge of protection of cultural heritage, and provides it with a due system of scientific, scientific and planning, and restoration organizations.
